  19. INSTALLING THE PROGRAM IN WINDOWS 95/98
  20. ================================================
  21.  
  22. 1. Place the program CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive, label side up.
  23.  
  24. 2. The program may be installed by either of the following 
  25. methods:
  26.  
  27.     a. If your computer has AutoPlay enabled, after a few 
  28.     moments, the AutoPlay menu will appear. Click on the
  29.     INSTALL option to begin the installation. Follow the
  30.     onscreen instructions to complete the install.
  31.  
  32.     b. On the Taskbar, click on the START button, point to 
  33.     and click on RUN. Then type D:\SETUP.EXE (where D is 
  34.     the letter of your CD-ROM Drive.) If you are not sure 
  35.     of your CD-ROM drive's letter, double click on the
  36.     'My Computer' icon on your desktop, and make note of 
  37.     the letter on the CD-ROM icon. Once the AutoPlay menu 
  38.     appears, click on the INSTALL option to begin the 
  39.     installation. Follow the onscreen instructions to 
  40.     complete the installation. 
  41.  
  42. After installation is complete you need to restart your 
  43. computer in order to make sure all installation changes 
  44. take effect. To restart your computer, follow these steps:
  45.  
  46.     1. Close all currently running applications.
  47.     2. On the Taskbar, click on the START button, point 
  48.     to and click on SHUT DOWN, select the RESTART option and 
  49.     click on OK.

  52. INSTALLING THE PROGRAM IN WINDOWS 3.1
  53. ================================================

  55. 1. Place the program CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive, label side up.
  56.  
  57. 2. The program may be installed by clicking on the File menu in
  58. the Program Manager and select Run.  Then in the Run box type
  59. D:\SETUP31.EXE (D: being the letter of your CD ROM drive) and 
  60. click OK.  A menu will appear, click the INSTALL button to begin
  61. the program installation. 
  62.  
  63. After installation is complete you need to restart your 
  64. computer in order to make sure all installation changes 
  65. take effect.

  68. RUNNING THE PROGRAM

  86.     letter of your CD-ROM Drive). If you are not sure of your
  87.     CD-DROM drive's letter, double click on the 'My Computer'
  88.     icon on your desktop, and make note of the letter on the
  89.     CD-ROM icon. Then select the RUN option.

  91. In Windows 3.1 you can run the program by clicking the Expert 
  92. Software program group in the Program Manager and then double
  93. click the Custom Cookbook icon located within. 
  94.

  97. REGISTERING THE PROGRAM ONLINE (Only Windows 95/98)
  98. ================================================

  100. Register the program online to receive free online technical
  101. support and the latest information on hundreds of great titles! 
  102.  
  103. In order for you to register the program online, you need to have
  104. an Internet Browser program installed on your computer and be 
  105. connected to the Internet.

  108. Explorer.

  110. please see the section of this readme file titled Internet

  113. Your copy of Custom Cookbook can be registered online by using one
  114. of the following options:
  115.  
  116. 1. Place the program CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive, label side up.
  117.  
  118. 2. The registration may be started by one of the following 
  119. methods:
  120.  
  121.     a. If your computer has AutoPlay enabled, after a few 
  122.     moments, the AutoPlay menu will appear. Click on the 
  123.     REGISTER ONLINE NOW! option to register the program. 
  124.  
  125.     b. On the Taskbar, click on the START button, point to
  126.     and click on PROGRAMS, EXPERT SOFTWARE, then select the 
  127.     Custom Cookbook program group and click on the 
  128.     Custom Cookbook Online Registration icon.

  130.     c. On the Taskbar, click on the START button, point to 
  131.     and click on RUN. Then type D:\SETUP.EXE (where D is the
  132.     letter of your CD-ROM Drive). If you are not sure of your
  133.     CD-ROM drive's letter, double click on the 'My Computer'
  134.     icon on your desktop, and make note of the letter on the
  135.     CD-ROM icon. Then Click on the REGISTER ONLINE NOW!

  139. UNINSTALLING THE PROGRAM
  140. ================================================
  141.  
  142. In order to uninstall the program, first close all currently
  143. running applications. Then click on the START button, point to
  144. and click on PROGRAMS, EXPERT SOFTWARE, then select the 
  145. Custom Cookbook group and then click on the Uninstall icon.
  146.

  148. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

  151. TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS :

  156. Error message :    
  157. "UNABLE TO LOCATE TEMP DIRECTORY" or 
  158. "Unable to Create File Buffer"
  159. ==============================================================
  160. Reason:
  161. Invalid Temp Directory 
  162.  
  163. Solution:
  164. Make sure that you have at least 5 MB of free disk space
  165. before you run Great Gourmet.
  166. Make sure that you have a TEMP environment variable set in
  167. your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.  It should look something like 
  168. this: 
  169.  
  170. SET TEMP=C:\TEMP
  171.  
  172. Once you have established that the TEMP variable is being
  173. set, you must make sure the TEMP directory exists.  If it 
  174. does not exist, then create the directory by typing:
  175.  
  176. MD C:\TEMP
  177.  
  178. Note that if you add the SET TEMP=C:\TEMP line to your 
  179. AUTOEXEC.BAT file, you must REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER before the 
  180. change will take effect.
  181.

  183. Error message:    
  184. "Permission Denied" or "COULD NOT LOCK FILE SHARE.EXE"  In 
  185. Windows 3.1
  186. ==============================================================
  187. Reason:    
  188. Share was not properly configured or is missing on your system
  189.  
  190. Solution:
  191. Add the following line to the beginning of your
  192. AUTOEXEC.BAT file: 
  193.  
  194. C:\DOS\SHARE /L:500 /F:5100
  195.  
  196. Note that you must REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER before the change
  197. will take effect.

  200.  Creating Your Own Cookbook files:
  201. ==============================================================
  202.  
  203.    You can create as many cookbooks as you
  204.    want; however you can only open one 
  205.    cookbook at a time.  
  206.  
  207.    The RESOURCE folder in the program directory contains two
  208.    empty cookbook files that you rename and fill
  209.    with recipes.  
  210.  
  211.    The first file, NEW_INGS.OTM is an empty
  212.    cookbook which contains several thousand 
  213.    ingredients so you can easily enter your own 
  214.    ingredients. The second file, NEW.OTM is a 
  215.    completely empty cookbook that does not contain
  216.    ingredients.
  217.  
  218.    To create a new cookbook:
  219.  
  220.    1. Copy the file NEW_INGS.OTM (or NEW.OTM)
  221.       from the RESOURCE directory to the
  222.       location you want on your hard disk. We 
  223.       recommend you create a new directory and name it
  224.       MYCOOKBK.
  225.  
  226.  ***  Note: be sure you copy these files from your 
  227.       Hard Drive and NOT the CD-ROM.  The files you 
  228.       copy from the CD are Read Only, and you won't be 
  229.       able to save your recipes to it un
